Fabric Care Instructions

Proper care is essential to maintaining the longevity and appearance of your fabrics. Follow these guidelines to keep your cotton, satin, and silk items looking their best.

Cotton

Cotton is a durable, versatile fabric commonly used for everyday clothing, bedding, and home textiles. Proper washing and drying can help retain its shape and color.

Washing Instructions:

  • Machine Wash: Use a gentle cycle with cold or warm water (nothing over 30 degrees Celsius).
  • Detergent: Use a mild detergent, preferably one designed for colors or delicate fabrics.
  • Avoid Bleach: Bleach can weaken cotton fibers, especially with repeated use, and may distort any patterns or colours in the fibers.

Drying Instructions:

  • Air Drying: Cotton items benefit from air drying as it helps them retain their shape, you should lay your items flat so that they will dry in their original position.
  • Dryer: Whilst it is recommended to air dry any cotton items, they can also be put into a dryer on a low-warm setting, do not use high heat for any cotton items.

Tips:

  • Wash colors separately to prevent fading or bleeding.
  • Avoid over-drying, as it can make the fabric feel stiffer over time.

Silk

Silk is a luxurious, delicate fabric that requires specialized care to maintain its natural sheen and softness. Extra care should be taken during washing and drying to avoid damage.

Washing Instructions:

  • Hand Wash Only: Use cool water with a gentle detergent specifically for silk.
  • Avoid Soaking: Soak briefly (5-10 minutes max) to avoid fiber weakening.
  • Rinse Gently: Rinse with cool water and avoid wringing or twisting, as this can stretch the fabric.

Drying Instructions:

  • Air Dry Only: Lay flat on a clean towel, reshaping gently if needed. Never wring or squeeze.
  • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Dry away from direct heat or sunlight, which can fade colors and weaken silk.

Tips:

  • Steam can help remove wrinkles without direct heat, this should be done by a dry cleaner to ensure damage is not done.
  • If you have washed your silk scrunchie and it seems flat, allow it to air dry, then you can use an iron steam function to bring the fullness back as much as possible without taking to a dry cleaner, hold the iron at least 15-20cm away from the scrunchie and spray the steam on turning every few presses, take the scrunchie and pull it out fluffing it manually.

Final Tips

  • For all fabrics, spot-test detergents on a small area to ensure compatibility.
  • For best results, consult fabric-specific care labels, as some items may have unique care requirements.

By following these care instructions, your cotton, satin, and silk items will retain their beauty and quality for years to come!
